Step 3. Cut the excess wick and fix it with a wick holder. If you don’t have one, you can do it as in the photo with a toothpick.
Step 4. When the wax is melted, add a few drops of one of the colorants, and stir until it is perfectly integrated. If you have difficulty mixing them correctly and using candle colorant, the problem is undoubtedly in the temperature. Reheat the mixture again, and you will see that they blend and dissolve perfectly with a little more temperature.
Step 5. Add the aromatic essence to taste and stir energetically so they are completely integrated.
Step 6. Fill the mold and let it cool. There should be no drafts or sudden temperature changes. Sometimes if we have poured the mixture at a high temperature, an effect known in the world of candles as “shrinkage” is produced. The “shrinkage” occurs when the solids occupy less space than the liquids.
When we pour into the mold, the first thing that cools is the outermost layers of the mold, so the wax on the edge is at the top of the whole. As it cools and occupies less space, an indentation is produced in the heart of the mold. This indentation can be refilled with the same mixture of wax, essence, and colorant.
Step 7. Once the candle is well dry, unmold it, and if it has made a hollow, fill it with a little of the melted wax left over.
